Since September 2014, the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) at the University of Denver has hosted a Parents and Children Bonding program at Sun Valley Homes. The generational programming, for parents and children, provides two ten week courses focusing on building stronger families and communities.
These classes aim to equip parents with skills to increase engagement in their children’s academics and community activities. Through this program’s support and education, participants have been given the opportunity to address health needs and received education on key academic components with the hopes of improving academic success and health for families in the Sun Valley Homes Neighborhood.
This program is another way that GSSW partners with DHA to provide services to DHA kids. For over twenty years, GSSSW’s The Bridge Project has provided educational opportunities for children living in Denver's public housing neighborhoods so they graduate from high school and attend college or learn a trade. We value this strong partnership and the work of Bridge in DHA communities. Please check out their website and support their work!
